Here’s What to Expect…
… Before Your Session
Since the laser hair removal treatment requires a contrast in color from hair to skin, avoid sun exposure for 2 weeks prior to your session (including tanning beds and self-tanning products). Avoid removing hair at the root for 6 weeks (i.e., tweezing, waxing, plucking). Additionally, you’ll need to stop bleaching or using depilatory agents for 4 weeks. Shave the area 24-48 hours prior to treatment. If you wear contacts, please remove them before your treatment.
… During Your Session
At your session, we’ll cleanse your skin and review your goals. Then, we’ll use the intense pulsed light (IPL) from the Venus Versa to target your hair follicles. With the advanced, real-time cooling system in the Venus Versa, your skin is always protected from the heat and you can enjoy a more comfortable treatment. It will take about 15-60 minutes depending on the areas we are working on.
… After Your Session
Avoid exercising or anything that causes your body to heat up for 24 hours after your session and avoid hot water and saunas for 3 days. Use a gentle exfoliator, such as Ethos Skincare AHA/BHA Exfoliator, one week after your treatment in order to slough off the dead hairs. Most patients require 3-6 treatments performed 6 weeks apart on the face and 4-8 weeks apart on the body. Patients with a high skin-color contrast report permanent hair loss after completing their laser hair removal treatment sessions. Some people require maintenance treatments once a year.
