IPL Laser Facials
what is ipl
Intense pulsed light (IPL) therapy is a non-invasive treatment that uses targeted light to improve discoloration, signs of aging, and uneven texture—without harming the skin’s surface. At Ethos MedSpa, we offer both IPL and broadband light therapies to correct imperfections and stimulate collagen, revealing smoother, brighter, more even-toned skin—often in just 1 to 5 sessions.
how it works
Unlike lasers, which use a single wavelength, IPL and broadband light deliver broad-spectrum pulses that reach multiple chromophores in the skin. Light energy is absorbed by pigment and blood vessels, breaking down discoloration and vascular lesions. This activates your body’s natural repair process, gradually revealing clearer skin and improved tone and elasticity.

common questions
how many IPL sessions will i need?
Most clients see visible improvements after just one session, but we typically recommend a series of 3–5 treatments spaced about 3–4 weeks apart for optimal results. Your provider will customize a plan based on your skin’s needs and your goals.
how long do results last after IPL?
With proper skincare and sun protection, results can last up to 12 months or longer. Maintenance treatments every 6–12 months can help prolong your results and continue to boost collagen production.
is IPL painful?
You may feel a warm snap or rubber-band-like sensation with each pulse, but discomfort is generally mild and short-lived. We can apply a cooling gel or numbing cream for added comfort if needed.
what should I avoid before and after an IPL photofacial?
Avoid sun exposure, tanning beds, and retinoids for at least 1–2 weeks before and after treatment. After your session, use gentle skincare and SPF daily. Your provider will give you a detailed aftercare plan based on your skin type.
is IPL safe for darker skin tones?
IPL can be safe for many skin types, but it’s typically most effective on lighter tones. For deeper skin tones, there’s a higher risk of discoloration—so we’ll carefully assess your skin and recommend the best treatment option to keep it glowing and protected.
